Are HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workouts beneficial??
HIIT produces many of the same health benefits as other forms of exercise in a shorter amount of time. These benefits include lower body fat, heart rate and blood pressure. HIIT may also help lower blood sugar and improve insulin sensitivity.
Time is precious in today’s busy environment therefore this could be the perfect workout for you.
As with any circuit you work within your limits, just ensure that whichever club/class you choose to train with, the classes aren’t too large and the Instructor is able to coach you, enhancing correct muscle engagement and reducing risk of injury.
In short, as long as you perform the exercise correctly, listen to your body and gradually increase your intensity you will reap the benefits.
An added physiological benefit from HIIT includes heightened post-exercise metabolism, meaning you continue to burn calories for several hours after completion of training.
